PITTSFIELD Berkshire United Way hires two employees, promotes five

Jennifer Kerwood has been hired as vice president of development, and Joey Esposito as coordinator of marketing and communications at the Berkshire United Way.

Kerwood returns to the Berkshire United Way after 15 years, having most recently serving as director of development and alumni relations at Berkshire Community College.

Esposito is a writer who served as senior editor for the entertainment website IGN in Los Angeles, before returning home to the Berkshires and serving as trade show coordinator at Laurin Publishing.

The United Way has also promoted five employees: Nancy Stoll to vice president of community impact; Karen Vogel to community impact program manager; Jonah Sykes to development manager; Erin Breen to donor database specialist; and Valerie Schueckler to senior accountant.

NORTH ADAMS Community clothing drive now taking place at Peebles

Stage Stores, a national chain that operates the Peebles Department Store in North Adams, is holding a "Community Counts Clothing Drive" through Tuesday, July 21.

Customers are invited to make donations of new or gently used clothing at Peebles, which is located at 78 Main St.

Each store has formed a local partnership with an organization that provides the donated clothing to families in need.

As a special thank you, Stage Stores will give participating customers a Community Counts Savings Coupon for $10 off a $10 purchase on regular, sale and clearance items.

Located in Houston, Texas, Stage Stores operates approximately 900 stores in 40 states. The company purchased Peebles Inc. in 2003. At the time, Peebles operated 136 stores in 17 states. Stage Stores operates several other depattment store chains including Bealls, Palais Royal and Goody's.

The Lake Gaston Junior Women’s Club fashion show hosted by Peebles Department Store in South Hill this past Tuesday brought in a large number of spectators.

The seats were filled with eager viewers there to enjoy the fashions on display and discounts offered to spectators, as well as to support the Lake Gaston Junior Women’s Club and friends and family who worked to make the fashion show possible.

Holly Watts, a Lake Gaston Junior Women’s Club member and senior assistant manager at Peebles, helped to organize the event and also was the mistress of ceremonies. Watts explained the mission of Peebles is to be a community-based clothing store that serves residents and visitors to the region.

Lake Gaston Junior Women’s Club President Tiffany Dotti then addressed the assembly, saying the fashion show was not only to showcase the latest summer fashions but also to raise funds for the Lake Gaston Junior Women’s Club and its numerous community outreach projects. Each attendee received a 30 percent off coupon for Peebles. For each coupon used, 10 percent of the proceeds were donated back to the club.

A total of 10 models, most members of Lake Gaston Junior Women’s Club with a few members’ relatives, strutted their stuff down the walkway. The models each wore outfits showing off the summer trends of 2015, which include bright colors, graphic patterns and soft materials.

Peebles and the Lake Gaston Junior Women’s Club were thankful for everyone’s continued support.
